PARTNER CENTRAL - ENVIRONMENTAL
Introduction
The OTIA III Bridge Delivery Program is a new way of doing business for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), and many of the permitting and data tools that have been developed are unique to this effort. This web site was developed to provide a resource for those participating in the OTIA III Bridge Delivery Program. Get more information about the environmental program background at ODOT’s official program web site.
Environmental Excellence Awards
ODOT receives Best Program award for Environmental Excellence from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).
The agency was recognized for its implementation of Context Sensitive and Sustainable Solutions (CS³) in its OTIA III State Bridge Delivery Program.
ODOT receives the Federal Highway Administration's prestigious "Environmental Excellence Award for Environmental Streamlining".
The award recognizes ODOT’s Bridge Replacement Environmental Stewardship Program, a unique approach to managing the replacement and repair of highway bridges throughout the state.
Subsidies and Programs
Clean Fuel for Bridges - With help from the Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon Bridge Delivery Partners, the Lane Regional Air Pollution Authority (LRAPA) has received funding from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to encourage construction contractors to purchase cleaner burning diesel fuel for OTIA III bridge projects. These Special Provision Templates were developed in an effort to better incorporate the Environmental Performance Standards and lessons learned from previous projects into future construction contracts. While not required, OBDP recommends these templates be used on OBDP managed design projects. Contact your Design Coordinator or Environmental Design Coordinator for further information.
Specification Template Disclaimer
The purpose of these Specifications Templates is to provide a working template with examples of Special Provisions that could be used to ensure a contract is in compliance with various applicable Environmental Performance Standards. This document should not be viewed as all inclusive. Once the A&E Firm has determined which Environmental Performance Standards are applicable to a project, the corresponding Special Provisions should be evaluated and modified as appropriate to address specific concerns of any given project and other specifications added as necessary. As with updates to ODOT's Standard Specifications, Supplemental Specifications, and Special Provisions, updates may be made monthly and will correspond to a bid opening date. Updates are published on this web page ten weeks before the effective date. The effective date is the date in which the updates must be incorporated into ODOT projects. If there are any questions regarding a listed Special Provision please contact the assigned OBDP Environmental Design Coordinator or OBDP Environmental Manager.
